A young woman named Aparna, an IPS trainee, leaving her house for a seminar by the government for IPS trainees. It is revealed that the seminar is hosted by the CBI. Two officers (Balagopal and Vinay) host the program until they start to talk about several cases the CBI has handled so far. They discuss a particular case known as the Basket Killings which was investigated by senior CBI officer Sethurama Iyer who is now a Senior SP working in CBI Headquarters, Delhi.

The case takes place in 2012 when Home Minister of Kerala state Abdul Samad dies en route to Kerala from Delhi. Many believe his death to be natural circumstances, but some find it mysterious. The suspicions of his death even fall on the Chief Minister of Kerala, who along with Samad went to Delhi. The suspicions escalate when Samad's personal doctor is also found dead under mysterious circumstances. The police find the death of the doctor to be murder. Protests take place asking the government to order an investigation on the death of Abdul Samad. A journalist named Bhasuran heads these protests and the next day he is found murdered by hanging. A police officer named Josemon is also found to be murdered the next day. The police understand that he was murdered by a car that hit and ran over him. The police come to the conclusion that these murders are related and names them the 'Basket Killings'. The case is handed over to DySP Sathyadas, who is the son of former DYSP Devadas, and who is a corrupt cop and hates the C.B.I, particularly Iyer. But the http://I.G KC Unnithan is against handing over the case to Sathyadas, citing his corruption. He shares these with the state police chief but he rejects Unnithan's plea and asks him to wait. Sathyadas finally concludes that the murder of Josemon is linked to a sand trafficker named Sam. In the past, Josemon had captured a lot of trucks that were carrying tons of illegally mined sand which belonged to Sam and Sathyadas believes that Sam murdered Josemon on the grounds of revenge. Out of suspicion, he takes Sam under custody. Meanwhile, a petition has been moved on court to hand over the case to CBI by Josemon's family. The case is headed by Sathyadas' wife Adv. Pratibha. Sathyadas learns of this and confronts his wife. She claims that she filed the petition because she suspected that he was trying to help save a friend of his who also had a history same as Sam along with Josemon. The case is later handed over to the CBI and Iyer is called upon by the Government of Kerala and his associates at the CBI office in Kerala. First, Iyer reveals that Abdul Samad and the Chief Minister had come to visit him to talk about a youth named Mansoor who was a relative of Samad and that he had joined a militant group some years ago. So the CBI learn that the CM has no involvement in the death of Samad. They collect CCTV visuals from Delhi Airport on Iyer's insistence, but finds nothing suspicious. They then focus on Sam and learn that Adv. Pratibha and Sam are acquainted. They question her and she proves that she has no involvement in the killings. they find Sam dead in a remote place after his escape from a hospital earlier while he was under custody. The CBI suspect his death is also a murder, but it is revealed in the forensic reports that his death was due to a heart attack. They then decide to search Bhasuran's house and they also question his friend. They find evidences that the killer might be a person named Mansoor and Iyer and his team suspect the involvement of the same Mansoor that was Samad's relative. They also heard this name before from the murdered doctor's wife and his driver as well. During the search Vinay finds a painting that resembles a person looking identical to that of one in the Delhi Airport CCTV recordings. They learn that his name is Sandeep and that he is linked to the now Retd. DySp Vikram, an honest CBI official, was the victim of a murder attempt. Sandeep was also under the suspects list of CBI in the attempted murder of Vikram who is now unable to walk and talk. Iyer and his team along with DySp Chacko, a long-time friend of both Iyer and Vikram. Iyer learns from Vikram that Sandeep is not his actual name and that his name is Paul Meyjo. It was later revealed by Paul Meyjo that Sandeep is his pen name to write in a science magazine. While questioning him Iyer acquires pen drive encased and hidden inside a pendant-shaped frame from his neck and when he was asked about it he grew angry and in retaliation Iyer slaps him, he in turn becomes violent and seeing this Iyer and Balagopal go to his cabin to examine the pendrive. They find many designs to a pacemaker and notes describing how to hack a pacemaker. They ask Paul about this and he tells them that he made those to prove his friend Dr. Venu's (the same doctor who was murdered) claim that a person cannot hack the pacemaker fitted in another person. They release Meyjo until further notice.

Later, Sathyadas comes to meet Iyer to share with him an incident that he experienced the previous day. Sathyadas was driving and he had to go through the way in front of Sam's guesthouse and also the place where Josemon was killed. But while he was driving, he saw lights coming out of the house which had no residents at all. Iyer decides to investigate and finds that someone was indeed there. He learns that one more murder will take place and the victim will be Susan George, a patient of the late Dr. Venu and also the wife of a renowned doctor, Dr. George Abraham. She is revealed to be using a pacemaker. She is visited by a disguised Meyjo not long before the CBI infiltrate the house to save her. Meyjo escapes and Iyer stays behind to question Susan.Susan was actually named Ambika Mohan and was the wife of I.G KC Unnithan IPS. It is revealed that Meyjo was indeed the one who killed Abdul Samad on the bidding of Sam who was working along with Unnithan. Meyjo committed the murder by hacking into his pacemaker by thinking that he hacked into Susan's pacemaker. But Susan wasn't on the flight as she couldn't board it in time. Unnithan is revealed to be the main culprit behind all the crimes. He was an acute schizophrenic and abused his wife, so she left him. But Unnithan didn't like her living in peace and decides to eliminate her by using Sam and Meyjo. After the death of Samad, Sam and Meyjo decide to kill Dr. Venu as he knew that he was on the same flight as Samad and grew suspicious of him. They then kill Bhasuran for organising protests to find the real murderers of Samad's murder out of fear. Then comes Josemon, who while jogging passed through the front gates of Sam's guesthouse to find Unnithan and Sam along with each other. The very next day Sam is ordered by Unnithan to kill Josemon and he in turn instructs Meyjo. He does so by hitting and running his vehicle over Josemon. Iyer cracks the case and arrests Unnithan. Sometime later Iyer goes to the Central Jail to meet Meyjo and Meyjo warns him that his next target for assassination would be Iyer. Iyer in return tells him that he would be waiting for Meyjo's release in order to question him in his involvement in Vikram's condition and walks away in his classic manner.
