Sri lanka moved up to 3rd on the world test championship standings with their huge victory against Australia in previous series. Pakistan are one spot behind Sri lanka in 4th place .

Dimuth Karunaratne (c), Pathum Nissanka, Oshada Fernando, Angelo Mathews, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kamindu Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, Dinesh Chandimal, Ramesh Mendis, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Vishwa Fernando, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka, Prabath Jayasuriya, Dunith Wellalage, Jeffrey Vandersay
Dhananjaya de silva, Asitha Fernando, Jeffrey Vandersay are all named to the squad. Spiner prabath Jayasuriya is also named to the squad and he has a chance to play Pakistan series because his talents in previous series. He claimed 12 wickets in the match against Australia which is the best haul for a Sri lankan on test debut and 4th best for a debutant overall.
Maheesh Theekshana and Ramesh Mendis also will play for the give spin attack against Pakistan team. But praveen jayavikrama and lasith ambuldeniya have been left out of the squad.
The series begins with the first test in Galle on Saturday,16 July 2022 and the second test begins the end of the month.
